Baker

The Baker at Giant Eagle is responsible for creating a variety of high-quality bakery products, including breads, pastries, cakes, and cookies, that meet the company’s standards for freshness and taste. This role involves mixing, baking, and finishing products while ensuring that all recipes are followed accurately. The Baker must maintain a clean and organized work environment, adhere to food safety regulations, and provide excellent customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare doughs, batters, and other ingredients for baking, following company recipes and guidelines.
• Operate and monitor ovens, mixers, and other bakery equipment to ensure products are baked to perfection.
• Decorate and finish bakery products, including icing, glazing, and garnishing cakes and pastries.
• Perform regular checks on baking processes and make adjustments as necessary to maintain consistency.
• Rotate products in the display cases to ensure customers always receive the freshest items.
• Take special orders for cakes, pastries, and other baked goods, ensuring customer specifications are met.
• Respond to customer inquiries and resolve any issues promptly and courteously.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area, including the cleaning and sanitizing of equipment and surfaces.
• Assist in receiving and storing bakery deliveries, ensuring products are of the highest quality.

Qualifications:

• Previous experience in a bakery or food production environment is preferred.
• Experience with baking and decorating cakes, pastries, and breads is highly desirable.
• Strong baking skills, with a solid understanding of baking techniques, ingredients, and equipment.
• Attention to detail in both baking and finishing products.
• Good time management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong work ethic, reliability, and flexibility to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• Physical stamina to stand for long periods, lift heavy bags of flour or other ingredients, and perform repetitive tasks.
